“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
Jesus spoke to the Chief Priests and Pharisees to tell them that there were more important things than obeying the Old Testament's Laws to the letter. They needed to believe in Jesus and accept his teaching as true in order to be free from sin, but they were blind to this truth. When I look back on this time I wonder how these educated men (for they were educated) could have missed the point entirely. Was it so hard to believe Jesus’ simple statement? Don’t we often make our own faith so complicated and structured that we forget the simple truth that belief in Jesus and His Word will set us free? [Written by: Billie]
